So, I got a package on the mail Tuesday night, my dexcom arrived!! Not going to lie, it took me a while to get that thing set up, while waiting for the 2 hour warm up I ended up falling asleep... YUP BIG MISTAKE, forgot to put it on silent and it BEEEEEEPED all night long, the first alert woke me up and I had no idea what it was, then I realized DARN IT I'M LOW!!
Managed half asleep to walk to the kitchen for something to eat, switched to silent alerts and went back to bed. Another alert went on at 5:40am, but this time it was my alarm for my morning ride, still not trusting the sensor I measured with meter and numbers were completely off, (so which one do I trust?) As always, packed all my supplies and headed out on my bike, didn't last long, sunny Miami wasn't as sunny that morning, in fact I got soaked.. As the day passed my sensor and meter wouldn't match, it got me kind off confused, I checked with both all day long until bedtime where they decided to start getting along, numbers were somewhat similar until FINALLY this morning, exactly the SAME!!
I still feel very very weird carrying that patch on me 24/7, knowing I have a tiny needle in me all day long makes me feel NOT normal, but I know it's for the best. Honestly, the only amazing thing is that I get to keep track of my levels, especially while riding, just in time for my next race in two weeks. I just hope with time I start liking how the sensor looks on me, but whether I like it or not, I strongly recommended to anyone with type 1, it makes your life so much easier and you know exactly where you are without the need to pinch your finger before every meal, and trust me, you don't even feel it's there.
Keep fighting champions!!
